New Polycom KIRK Handsets Enhance Workplace Safety

LONDON/SLOUGH, UK - 15 Feb 2010 : Polycom, Inc. [Nasdaq: PLCM], the global leader in telepresence, video and voice communications solutions, is launching the new Polycom KIRK 60-handset series, the latest addition to Polycom´s KIRK DECT wireless handset portfolio. The 60-handset series provide a ruggedised and application enabled solution ideal for integrating with safety and production systems in manufacturing and industrial environments.

The new Polycom KIRK handsets come with a set of specialised features designed to integrate with third-party applications. As an added safety feature, the handsets include motion sensors that send 'man-down' or ‘man-running' alerts when no or too much motion is detected after a pre-determined amount of time. The handsets also reduce production downtime and improve operational efficiencies by providing instant notification in the event of a machine failure.

The Polycom KIRK 6020 handset is a highly durable, IP64 classified handset that is dust proof and resistant to splashing water, vibration, and shock. The KIRK 6020 Handset is designed specifically for manufacturing environments and comes with a range of features such as an alarm button, color display and manufacturing specific alert icons. The Polycom KIRK 6040 delivers maximum safety for lone-workers in industrial and manufacturing environments by adding a tear-off alarm and, accelerometer.
