Managed or Hosted Solutions

Conferencing and IP Telephony solutions can be customer premise based and managed by the service provider or hosted completely by the service provider. These offerings leverage the service provider’s skills and services in areas such as design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, network access and routing while enabling the enterprise and the SMB to focus on its core business.

Typical managed offerings, driven by security and control concerns, include the video endpoints, voice phones and infrastructure products. The MCUs and video firewalls are deployed in the customer premise while managed remotely by the service provider.

Hosted solutions are primarily driven by business concerns of limited resources and apprehensiveness about running a reliable service. In this environment, conferencing and IP endpoints are deployed on customer premise while the infrastructure, such as the MCUs and call control servers, is hosted in the service provider network. The hosted infrastructure can be either shared amongst several customers or dedicated to a specific customer.
